Climate milestone: Earth's CO2 level passes 400 ppm

The news is everywhere across the media—the amount of carbon dioxide in the atmosphere has exceeded 400 ppm for the first time in 55 years of measurement—and probably more than 3 million years of Earth history.

Courtesy: Cannon DesignThe news is everywhere across the media—the amount of carbon dioxide in the atmosphere has exceeded 400 parts per million (ppm) for the first time in 55 years of measurement—and probably more than 3 million years of Earth history. According to the National Geographic story, "the last time the concentration of Earth's main greenhouse gas reached this mark, horses and camels lived in the high Arctic."This lead us to conclude that while the building sector is heading in the right direction when it comes to implementing sustainable measures—the planet is rapidly headed the wrong direction. So, what does this mean for design professionals? I’m thinking the term "regenerative" will take on real meaning very soon. It will be an imperative, not a choice.
