About the Electrical Generating Systems Association (EGSA)

The association’s vision is to provide an environment where on-site power generation industry experts share knowledge to drive the industry to higher levels of service and performance.

Electrical Generating Systems Association (EGSA) is the world’s largest organization exclusively dedicated to on-site power generation. EGSA is comprised of more than 800 companies worldwide that make, sell, distribute, and use on-site power generation technology and equipment including generators, engines, switchgear, controls, and emerging technologies.

Under the leadership of its board of directors and operating through its various committees and staff, EGSA strives to educate, provide networking opportunities, and share relevant knowledge and trends to industry professionals including manufacturers, distributors/dealers, engineers, regulatory agencies, manufacturers’ representatives, contractors/integrators, and others serving on-site power consumers.

The association’s vision is to provide an environment where on-site power generation industry experts unite and share knowledge to drive the industry to higher levels of service and performance.

EGSA’s goals are to:

  • Provide the on-site power community with education and industry enrichment
  • Maintain financial viability to ensure a strong EGSA future
  • Develop programs that promote long-term membership value.

Programs That Benefit Members and the Industry

EGSA is best known for its on-site power generation schools, which provide a complete technical overview of on-site power systems. EGSA offers a two-tiered program with basic and advanced schools.

Designed for nontechnical personnel, the basic school provides a general overview of on-site power generation equipment. In comparison, the advanced school offers highly technical and in-depth coverage of the equipment and is intended for experienced and technical personnel.

EGSA is also recognized for offering the on-site power industry's only electrical generator systems technician certification program, created as part of EGSA's commitment to advancing professionalism within the on-site power industry. Through rigorous testing, the program identifies technicians who possess a broad knowledge of electricity, and of mechanical and electrical components and the interaction between them, and are proficient in the installation, service, maintenance, and repair of on-site power generation systems.

Finally, EGSA monitors the development of national standards concerning the use of on-site power equipment and technology, such as the National Electric Code (NEC). EGSA also has developed performance standards for equipment and components particular to its industry.
