The Dept. of Energy (DOE) and the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency are starting to prepare for the 2012 Energy Star Awards. The awards themselves have been scheduled for March 15, 2012, in Washington, D.C.

The purpose of the award is to acknowledge and recognize the companies that have done the best in energy efficiency in their investments of technology, buildings, design in their own company as well as work that has been done for the community at large.

The company’s applicants have to submit and pass an online package to be considered first. The deadline to fill out the application is December 2, 2011. There are two main awards: Partner of the Year and Excellence Awards. They are further broken down by different branches including Retailer, Service and Product Provider.
