The Senate Chamber was well preserved at the project's completion. The preservation and repair of the historical fabric was only possible by finding new locations and pathways for the MEP systems. The new Jerome L. Greene Science Center is intended to not only be a university-wide facility, but also be a welcoming presence that connects with its surrounding urban neighborhood. Considerable care was given as to how the building would interact with and activate the street level, with a sidewalk level that will become an open area for communal, cultural,and commercial exchange.
