Cory Abramowicz, PE, HBDP, LEED AP, 31

Associate, Project Manager, Lead Mechanical Engineer; Environmental Systems Design Inc. (ESD), Chicago

BAE and MAE Architectural Engineering, Pennsylvania State University, University Park

Abramowicz joined ESD in 2008 as an intern after earning both bachelor’s and master’s degrees in the same year. Now, as project manager and lead mechanical engineer, he provides project expertise across a range of market sectors. With experience in building system design and analysis, he has worked on many interior-building environment projects and large-scale building infrastructure design and implementation. His work on Chicago’s century-old Wrigley Field was exemplary. Abramowicz makes sure clients are never surprised and are always informed about their projects. He believes one must take pride in the work produced. For example, as part of the design team for Jeddah Tower in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia, the world’s tallest building, he not only made sure the thousands of drawings got out on time, but that they were carefully reviewed, corrected, and issued. In addition, he believes leadership is not about being rigid. He believes the key, especially when guiding a team through projects, is to be open-minded about the direction and how the project goals are achieved. Abramowicz’s family includes his wife Christine, to whom he’s been married for 5 years, along with his 20-month-old son and a baby on the way. He is involved at the Christ Church of Oak Brook, where he has contributed to the planned expansion of the church. He has offered his expertise as a way of giving back. Through ESD, he has volunteered to be part of Canstruction, which he saw as a wonderful opportunity to compete alongside peers to create designs and structures that would eventually be donated to the Greater Chicago Food Depository. When he is not working or volunteering, Abramowicz enjoys golfing, woodworking, and photography.
