The Bronx district attorney’s office has decided to pursue criminal charges against an engineer whose failure to fully inspect a Bronx construction job was cited in a fire department report on the deaths of two firefighters.

The American Fire Sprinkler Assn. recently released 13 newly updated report of inspection forms designed to cover the mandatory inspection, testing, and maintenance requirements for fire sprinkler systems detailed in the 2008 edition of NFPA 25: Standard for Testing, Inspection, and Maintenance of Water-Based Fire Protection Systems.

4. NFPA Standards Council contemplates changes to fireworks standard
In response to findings presented in a new research report from the Fire Protection Research Foundation, the Standards Council of the National Fire Protection Association is considering changes with regard to NFPA’s provisions on the retail sale of consumer fireworks. All written submissions must be received by NFPA no later than May 9, 2008.
