1. NEMA publishes application guide for electric fire pump controllers
The National Electrical Manufacturers Assn. has published NEMA ICS 14, "Application Guide for Electric Fire Pump Controllers."

3. Feature: new legislation for pools, spas, and hot tubs
The American Society of Mechanical Engineers' A112 plumbing standards meetings were held recently. One of the hot issues was recent legislation affecting the development of standard ASME A112.19.8, "Suction Fittings for Use in Swimming Pools, Wading Pools, Spas, and Hot Tubs."

4. AHRI awarded ANSI accreditation
The Air-Conditioning, Heating, and Refrigeration Institute announced that it has been awarded accreditation by the American National Standards Institute as a standards developing organization.

5. USGBC releases LEED for Existing Buildings: Operations & Maintenance
The U.S. Green Building Council announced that LEED for Existing Buildings: Operations & Maintenance (LEED EB: OM) is now available. Among the many upgrades to LEED EB provided by LEED EB: OM are more credits for energy efficiency.

6. IEEE approves new standard for faulted circuit indicators
The Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers (IEEE) has approved a new standard, IEEE 1610, "Guide for the Application of Faulted Circuit Indicators for 200 / 600 A, Three-Phase Underground Distribution."

7. U.S. EPA approves registration of antimicrobial copper alloys
The U.S. EPA has approved the registration of antimicrobial copper alloys, with public health claims. These public health claims acknowledge that copper, brass and bronze are capable of killing harmful, potentially deadly bacteria. Copper is the first solid surface material to receive this type of EPA registration, which is supported by extensive antimicrobial efficacy testing.

8. ANSI/AMCA Standard 210-07 - ANSI/ASHRAE Standard 51-07 available
The American National Standards Institute approved the standard in August 2007; ASHRAE approved it in March. Standard 210-07, "Laboratory Methods of Testing Fans for Certified Aerodynamic Performance Rating," is now available.
