GreenGuide Available

By Staff -- Consulting-Specifying Engineer, 1/1/2004

The American Society of Heating, Refrigerating and Air-Conditioning Engineers (ASHRAE) has responded to the growth of the green movement by publishing the ASHRAE GreenGuide. The new reference manual for HVAC and refrigeration designers provides guidance on green design from the design and construction phases to operation and maintenance.

"Readers should assume that when HVAC&R designers find themselves in a situation where a green design is to be done, this guide will help answer the question 'what do I do now,'" said editor David Grumman, P.E., Grumman/Butkus Associates, Evanston, Ill.

The book focuses on sustainable design issues such as architectural design impacts, energy distribution and conservation systems, conceptual design and energy/water sources, as well as provides 29 ASHRAE GreenTips—sidebars that contain information on techniques, processes, measures or systems and other sources for reference.

The guide is $99 ($79 for ASHRAE members). To order, visit ASHRAE's online bookstore at http://resourcecenter.ashrae.org/store/ashrae.
