Your Questions, Please

By Staff -- Consulting-Specifying Engineer, 12/1/2003

Back in May, CSE launched a new department that we hope you've been enjoying—Project Journal. Like a lot of good ideas, this series sprang forth from a problem—in this case, too much good content from author Michael Sheerin. Michael, the Healthcare Division Director for TLC Engineering for Architecture, Orlando, produced a volume of material for his piece on Frederick Memorial Hospital, which we first featured in our April health-care issue. But in brainstorming with Michael and several other fine folks at TLC, we came up with the idea of delving deeper into the project's story by covering it in sections over the remainder of the year. And over the course of the series we've explored unusual facets of the project, from dealing with code issues to midstream design changes to system testing and project coordination. Next month, however, will wrap up this first series of the Journal, as in February, we turn our eyes to Pittsburgh and its new LEED-certified David L. Lawrence Center, which we'll profile next month in an introductory feature. But before we get there, Michael and the Frederick Memorial team invite you to submit questions on any of the subjects addressed in the series or any other relevant issues we didn't explore involving hospital renovation or expansion. We'll post the Q&A in an upcoming Journal.

Also, feel free to submit suggestions for topics you'd like to see covered in future installments.
