Office Depot’s prototype building receives pre-certification from the USGBC

Office Depot’s, Del Ray Beach, Fla., prototype building design earned volume pre-certification under USGBC’s pilot program. The LEED Portfolio Program creates a volume certification path to allow companies to incorporate LEED attributes into a prototype design before implementation across several buildings. Office Depot’s first prototype is set to open in late June. The program includes high efficiency HVAC units, reflective white roofs, solar panels, solar tracking skylights to maximize natural light, non-asphalt concrete parking lots, carpets made with recycled content, recycling programs, and enhanced energy management systems.
